Pilar Montoya Manzano, also known as La Faraona, was a renowned Spanish Romani flamenco dancer born in Seville in 1960. Hailing from the Farrucos family, she was the daughter of the esteemed dancer Antonio "Farruco" Montoya Flores and singer Enriqueta Reyes, and the sister of Rosario "La Farruca" Montoya. La Faraona gained recognition for her impeccable bulerías and distinct tangos, characterized by a touch of mischief and the canastero seal of her family's style. She began her career at 15, accompanying her father in various shows and later performing as a soloist in productions such as Andalucía Flamenca and Persecución. Throughout her career, she collaborated with renowned flamenco artists and co-starred with her sister in Gitanas at the Mont-de-Marsan Festival. La Faraona also made a mark internationally, touring with artists like El Güito and Manuela Carrasco. In addition to her performances, she imparted her expertise by teaching flamenco dancing courses and seminars.
