Ray's political journey began after actively participating in the freedom movement and holding leadership roles within the Socialist Party. His dedication led to his election to the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, and he served as the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare. Notably, in 1989, he was unanimously elected as the Speaker of the 9th Lok Sabha, bringing dignity and integrity to the office.Beyond politics, Ray was involved in social work and activism.
