Rainbow George Weiss (13 October 1940 – 1 December 2021) was a British political figure and serial fringe political party candidate in various UK elections. Born to a diamond merchant, he spent 15 years working for his father in Hatton Garden before becoming a frequent gambler. Weiss was a fervent supporter of Newcastle United and almost convinced their former striker, Jackie Milburn, to stand for his Captain Rainbow's Universal Party in 1985. He gained attention for standing in 13 constituencies in the 2005 general election, earning a total of 1,289 votes. Weiss founded the Vote For Yourself Rainbow Dream Ticket and proposed innovative ideas such as a "preferendum" and advocating for the independence of Cardiff and Belfast as city-states. He also stood for the Make Politicians History Party in the 2007 Northern Ireland Assembly election. In the 2017 general election, Weiss teamed up with the Official Monster Raving Loony Party, receiving 3,733 votes. Weiss passed away on 1 December 2021 at the age of 81, after spending his final years in a Highgate retirement home in London.
