Rama II was a renowned poet and artist, patronizing numerous poets in his court, including the illustrious Sunthorn Phu. His reign saw significant expansion of his descendants, with over 240 grandchildren. Born in 1767 during the Ayutthaya Kingdom, Rama II, initially Prince Itsarasunthon, rose to the throne after the death of his father, Rama I. Rama Narayanan (3 April 1949 – 22 June 2014) was an Indian film director and producer renowned for his work in commercial films featuring animals in the 1980s and Hindu devotional subjects in the 1990s. Initially aspiring to be a songwriter, he ventured into dialogue writing and, alongside M. A. Khaja, adopted the pen name Ram-Rahim. Noteworthy works include his directorial debut, "Sumai," and his 100th film, "Thirupathi Ezhumalai Venkatesa." Narayanan also served as a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and chaired the Tamil Nadu Eyal Isai Nataka Manram and the Tamil Film Producers Council. He was honored with the Kalaimamani award by the Government of Tamil Nadu. Narayanan passed away on 22 June 2014 in a Singapore hospital due to kidney-related ailments.
