Renz L. Jennings (August 5, 1899 – February 11, 1983) was a prominent figure in Arizona's legal and political spheres. He served as a justice of the Supreme Court of Arizona from 1960 to 1964 and sought the Democratic nomination for the United States Senate twice, in 1934 and 1964, although he did not succeed in these endeavors. Jennings' early life was marked by personal tragedy, as he lost his parents at a young age and was raised by his siblings. After serving in the military during World War I, he became one of the seven individuals to pass the 1926 Arizona Bar Exam. Jennings married Leola in 1927, and despite the social norms of the time, the couple kept their marriage a secret due to the perceived impropriety of a teacher being married.In his career, Jennings held various positions, including serving as a Democratic member of the Arizona House of Representatives, Maricopa County Attorney, and judge of the Maricopa County Superior Court before being elected to the Supreme Court. Although his political aspirations were not fully realized, Jennings left a mark with his participation in the state's legal and political landscape.Jennings' life came to an end on February 11, 1983, following a heart attack while swimming. His wife, Leola, who was unable to swim, was unable to rescue him. The couple was known for their long-standing membership
