Savina Petrilli (29 August 1851 - 18 April 1923) was an Italian Catholic professed religious known for founding the Sisters of the Poor of Saint Catherine of Siena. Her strong devotion to Catherine of Siena from a young age led her to establish a congregation dedicated to aiding needy girls and the poor. The congregation, which began in Siena, later expanded to Brazil and other countries. Petrilli's beatification took place on April 24, 1988, and she is commemorated in the Roman Martyrology on 18 April. Her life and religious activities were thoroughly examined, leading to her being declared Venerable by Pope John Paul II in 1985. A reported miracle attributed to her intercession was authenticated, leading to her beatification. Petrilli's legacy lives on through the continued work of the Sisters of the Poor of Saint Catherine of Siena, with operations in Latin America, the United States, India, and the Philippines, comprising 589 religious women in a total of 87 houses as of 2005.
