Shaye is a gender-neutral name of Irish origin, meaning "Hawk." It was also the name of a Canadian pop group formed by singer-songwriters Kim Stockwood, Damhnait Doyle, and Tara MacLean. The band released albums such as "The Bridge" and "Lake of Fire," with singles like "Happy Baby" and "Beauty." Despite MacLean's departure in 2007, the group continued to make music before officially disbanding in 2009. The members pursued solo careers, with Doyle forming a new band called The Heartbroken and Stockwood releasing her own albums. The name Shaye holds significance for the band, as it was chosen in honor of MacLean's sister, who tragically passed away in a car accident in 2002.
