Esther Silvana Koch-Mehrin, born on November 17, 1970, in Wuppertal, is a former German politician of the Free Democratic Party of Germany who served as a Member of the European Parliament from 2004 to 2014. She founded the public affairs consultancy, Conseillé+Partners, in 1998 and later rose to the ranks of the federal party executive under the leadership of FDP chairman Wolfgang Gerhardt. During her time in parliament, she was a member of the European Parliament's Committee on Budgets and served as Vice Chairwoman of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe until May 2011.Koch-Mehrin faced controversy due to plagiarism accusations regarding her 2001 thesis and attendance debates during the 2009 European Parliament election campaign.
