Siri Skare (6 June 1958 – 1 April 2011) was a pioneering figure as the first female aviator in the armed forces of Norway. Hailing from Åndalsnes, Møre og Romsdal, Norway, Skare was a resident of Oslo, married, and a mother. With over 1400 hours of experience as a civilian pilot and flight instructor, she completed her military pilot training in 1984. Skare then flew Lockheed P-3 Orion at 333 Squadron and later Lockheed C-130 Hercules at 335 Squadron, achieving the rank of lieutenant colonel within the Royal Norwegian Air Force. In August 2010, she became a military advisor to the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan. Tragically, Skare lost her life during a protest at the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan compound in Mazar-i-Sharif on 1 April 2011. Her legacy lives on, and she was honored in a ceremony at Gardermoen, attended by Crown Prince Haakon and Minister of Defence Grete Faremo. She is laid to rest at Grytten churchyard in Rauma.

Siri Jørgensdatter (1717-?) was a Norwegian peasant girl who gained historical attention as one of the last individuals to be prosecuted for witchcraft in Norway. In 1730, she faced interrogation and trial on the charge of witchcraft after confessing to her parish vicar about her grandmother's involvement in Satan's Witches' Sabbath. According to her testimony, her grandmother had engaged in various supernatural activities, including flying with a pig anointed with ointment, milking knives, and using ointment for flying. Despite reporting herself as a witch and naming two women as her accomplices, the court dismissed her case, deeming her story influenced by the widely publicized Mora witch trials. This marked a shift in the judicial attitude towards witchcraft charges in Norway, as judges had become increasingly skeptical.
