SIGN UPThe name Suni is of Native American - Zuni origin and is primarily used for females. It means "From The Native Zuni Tribe." Interestingly, the suni also refers to a small antelope, Nesotragus moschatus, found in dense underbrush from central Kenya to KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, as well as on the Zanzibar archipelago. This small ungulate, standing at 30 to 43 centimeters (12 to 17 inches) at the shoulder and weighing 4.5 to 5.4 kilograms (9 lb 15 oz to 11 lb 14 oz), is known for its reddish-brown coat and its shy, nocturnal behavior. Suni feed on leaves, fungi, fruits, and flowers, and are well adapted to their environment. However, they face threats such as poaching, habitat loss, and predation by dogs, particularly in South Africa. Despite these challenges, the suni is listed as a species of Least Concern, showcasing its resilience in the face of adversity.
