Weaver Warren Adams (April 28, 1901 – January 6, 1963) was an American chess master, author, and opening theoretician. He gained recognition for winning the U.S. Open Championship in 1948 and participating in the U.S. Championship five times. Adams is most renowned for his controversial assertion that the first move 1.e4 gives White a winning advantage. Despite facing criticism from the chess community, International Master Hans Berliner expressed admiration for Adams and similarly claimed that White may claim a winning advantage with 1.d4. However, Adams' results suffered as he published his analysis, forfeiting the element of surprise for his opponents. Notably, future World Champion Bobby Fischer used the Adams Attack with success. Adams was also known for his books and articles advocating White's first-move advantage. Despite his theories being ridiculed by many, they made a lasting impression on some players, including Berliner. Although Adams was not consistently successful at the highest levels, his ideas were studied and sometimes adopted by strong players.

Weaver Levy (January 14, 1925 – February 8, 2018) was a Chinese American character actor with a prolific career in Hollywood spanning from the 1940s to the early 1980s. Despite his success in acting, Weaver also managed to own an electronics store in North Hollywood, California. He passed away on February 8, 2018.
