Zenia Szajna Larsson, also known as Zenia Marcinkowska, was a Polish-Swedish writer and sculptor of Jewish descent, born on April 2, 1922, in Łódź. She survived the Holocaust and was one of the first in Sweden to recount her wartime experiences. After being confined in the Łódź Ghetto from 1940 to 1944 and subsequently deported to Auschwitz and Bergen-Belsen, she was liberated in April 1945 and then immigrated to Sweden. Larsson studied sculpture and became known for her character studies and portraits, including a notable piece of Astrid Lindgren. Her literary works include a war trilogy and a variety of novels, short stories, essays, and radio plays. Notably, she published her letters to Chava Rosenfarb in a collection titled Brev Fran En Ny Verk Lighet. Larsson passed away on September 4, 2007, in Stockholm. Her legacy continues through her impactful literary and artistic contributions.
